AT HOME REMEDIES
* It’s important to get enough sleep which is a major contributor to under-eye circles. Also, if you suffer from seasonal allergies, take antihistamine medication everyday to minimise circles caused by rubbing your eyes.
*Make the hollow area beneath the bags look less deep with concealer. Choose one shade brighter (preferably light reflective) than your actual skin tone and only dab on the dark shadow and not the bag or skin area immediately underneath the eye. Use a fine brush to apply and not your finger.
*Green tea bags soaked in warm water and then placed over eyes for a couple of minutes will reduce swelling and revive eyes. Or place a spoon in a glass of ice cold water for a couple of minutes, dot on some eye cream lightly, then sweep the back of the spoon under eyes in an outward stroke to reduce swelling – a lump of ice wrapped in Clingfilm also works.
*Keep a tube of aloe vera gel in the freezer. Let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes then squeeze out a few cool, icy drops onto your fingers and massage your under-eye area, using your ring finer in circular movement, gently in both directions. The aloe acts as an anti-inflammatory and the lymphatic massage can remove toxins from the skin and helps reduce morning swelling
* If you’ve got a special occasion coming up, avoid salty food starting at dinner the night before, and sleep on an extra pillow to minimise water retention and fluid build-up
* Stop rubbing your eyes as it can lead to more dilated blood vessels and shadows around the eyes
AT LAST A CURE FOR CELLULITE?
The latest cellulite busting procedure Celifina which promises long term smoothing of the skin and which promises to revolutionise the treatment of a condition which is the bane of almost every woman’s life has just been launched in the US.
Celifina is based on a simple idea, that the dimpling can be flattened out by snipping the clusters of tissue called septae in the fat under the skin that connect skin to muscles (much like the threads on a Chesterfield sofa that hold the tufts in place) using a new device the size of an IPhone. Most women have around 15 to 25 dimples on their thighs and bottom and this new device works mechanically—no laser, no heat, no sound or radio waves. First each dimple is marked and numbed with an automatic injection of lidocaine. Then the device grabs the skin with the aid of suction and slides a miniature blade about six millimeters below the skin to cut the attachment. It sounds like torture but the blade is so small that there is no bleeding and minimal bruising. It takes around one hour to treat 25 dimples with no downtime. Depending on the area to be treated, the procedure costs from £1000 and will be available in the Uk early next year.
